EU AI Act
The EU's comprehensive, risk-based AI law.
The EU AI Act is the world's first comprehensive AI law. It classifies AI systems by risk — prohibited, high-risk, limited-risk (transparency), and minimal — and imposes the heaviest obligations on high-risk systems and general-purpose AI (GPAI) models. It applies extraterritorially to any provider or deployer whose AI is placed on the EU market or affects people in the EU.
Who it applies to
Providers, deployers, importers, and distributors of AI systems used in the EU — regardless of where they are established.
Key obligations
- Risk classification and prohibited-practice screening
- For high-risk: risk management system, data governance, technical documentation, logging
- Transparency, human oversight, accuracy, robustness, and cybersecurity
- Conformity assessment and post-market monitoring
- GPAI model transparency, copyright, and systemic-risk duties
How Maetra maps agents to EU AI Act
Maetra classifies each agent's risk tier, generates the technical documentation, transparency notices, and conformity evidence Comply needs, enforces human oversight through Govern, and maintains the post-market audit trail — the exact artifacts the Act expects.
In practice, Maetra:
- Scans and fingerprints each agent. Discover reads the agent’s code — its tools, data access and sensitivity, actions, model, and environment — into an evidence-backed profile tied to the exact file and commit.
- Decides what applies. That profile determines whether EU AI Act is in scope for the agent and which of its requirements apply.
- Auto-detects controls and surfaces gaps. Controls your code already satisfies are detected automatically from the scan; the rest become a clear list of gaps, each tied to the requirement and the evidence it still needs.
- Proves it and keeps it current. Close gaps with linked evidence or generated documents — reused across every framework the same control supports — and Maetra re-checks on each rescan and flags evidence that has gone stale.
